Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Do you accommodate Stag, Hen or other parties at the Sirocco Blues Guest House?

No. The Sirocco Blues Guest House is solely family and couples orientated. We have quiet hours from 22:00 until 07:00 due to the fact we have children staying at the property. There are many hotels and B&Bs who you will welcome your stay at their property, we can even recommend some.

How can we check availability and book with you?

Please contact us through our FB page via message, through email contact@siroccoblues.co.uk or telephone us directly on 01253 313816

Do we have to pay a deposit?

We require a booking fee which is non refundable and deducted from the overall balance. If one-night bookings are available, we require the full room rate, which is non refundable. For two nights, we require a booking fee which is the equivalent of the first night and is also non refundable. For longer periods, we require a booking fee of £100.

Is a booking fee refundable?

As mentioned above, no. A booking fee is not refundable and is deducted from the balance owed, ie if you book for three nights at £70 a night, that is £210 overall, however, we will take a booking fee of £70, with the balance of £140 owing. However, we will allow you to modify dates if you have an emergency or should illness occur, please provide as much notice as possible - if a guest notifies us within a 24 hour period, it is too short a window for us. For date modifications, we will allow up to a six month period.

Do you accept cards?

Not at this property. A booking fee is required by bank transfer, only then will we hold the room/s. The balance is payable at the property either via bank transfer or in cash. We do require a valid email to send you an invoice.

Are there hidden fees?

Until this year, we charged for breakfast. This year, as a thank you to our amazing guests, we have now included breakfast in the room rate so please bear that in mind and which provides a saving of £6.00 per person per day.

The full English comprises thick handmade pork sausage from our local butchers, thick smoked back bacon, free range egg from the Wyre Valley, butter sauteed mushrooms, butter sautéed potatoes, baked tomato, baked beans, toast, tea & coffee as above.

We have given careful consideration to our vegetarians and vegans. For our vegetarians we offer Richmond vegan sausages, Richmond 'vacon', free range egg, baked tomato, butter sautéed mushrooms and potatoes, baked beans, toast and refreshments as above.

For our vegans we provide Richmond vegan sausages and vacon, sautéed firm tofu scramble with peppers, baked tomato, sautéed mushrooms and potatoes (sautéed in Pure) which is prepared and cooked entirely separately from any meat/dairy products. Toast and refreshments as above.

Our breakfasts are well worth selecting and will set you up for your day ahead.

Occasionally accidents occur or a guest loses their keys.

We ask our guests to let us know as soon as possible so that we can assess any damage and try to keep costs to a minimum if repairs/replacements are required. For loss of keys, we do charge £65 to cover a locksmith call out, lock change and copies made. For damages, assessment will be required and guests accept they are responsible for damages when proceeding with a reservation here.

Do we have parking?

Due to the heritage of this property, we are unable to provide parking. There is a carpark located at Cocker Square, which is a minute from this property. There are other car parks, such as Bank Street, otherwise it is street parking where available.

Is there Wi-Fi?

There is wifi throughout the property. While we do not charge for this service it is also not included in the room rate and a courtesy when available as speeds cannot be guaranteed due to shared bandwidth.

Can we bring takeaway food into our rooms?

We do not allow fresh foods in our guest rooms. They have the potential to stain linens (to our considerable cost in the past) and towels, leaving lingering smells which are difficult to remove.

Can we smoke at The Sirocco Blues Guest House?

We adopt a strict NO SMOKING policy at our property, which is a legal requirement. There is a seated area at the front of the property outside. Smoking is not permitted on the premises. If guests breach this policy, a fee of £100 is payable which the lead guest accepts when making a booking and the rest of their stay is cancelled. If guests are booked for more than one night, we do not charge the £100 deep cleaning fee and will not refund for the remainder of the nights booked.

Do we have to be in by a certain time?

No. As well as a key for your room, you get a key for the front door to come and go as you please during your stay. All we ask is that if you come in late you respect that others may already be asleep. We operate quiet hours between 10pm and 7am, we ask guests to be respectful of others, especially as we often have families with young children staying here and who may be asleep.

Can we purchase alcoholic beverages?

No. We aren't licensed and do not have have a bar. Our property is close to many bars, pubs and clubs which are licensed premises.

Do you have disabled access?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer disabled access. Due to the heritage of the property, we have no ground floor guest rooms. All guest rooms are accessed via stairs and located on 1st, 2nd, 3rd floor rooms - the family room is on the 3rd floor.

What time is check-in?

Check in at the Sirocco Blues Guest House is open from 15:00 until 19:00.

When do we check out?

Check out is by 10:30

Can we leave our luggage if we arrive earlier?

We prefer guests to retain their luggage until check in, as we are unable to accept responsibility for its safekeeping. Once formally checked in, the luggage is safe in their lockable room. Your host, Janie, does not have staff and is also busy servicing rooms to get them ready for check ins from the time stated above.

Do you accommodate pets?

Only a small dog and through prior arrangement. Just to make you aware that we have three housecats known as The MusCATeers, who are Mister Kaz (A little local celebrity as he loves nothing more than putting on his harness and having a walk outside where he can enjoy the fuss and attention from passersby), Shiva the Diva, and Bella Donna - Belly Belly as we call her because she loves her food. Due to having three housecats, we are therefore unable to accommodate other people's pets. We can assure guests that none of the MusCATeers are allowed near/in guest rooms. Last thing at night they are secured in the lounge area until just after breakfast service each morning to ensure I am able to thoroughly clean/sanitise the breakfast room and surrounding areas.
